Hi,

I am leaning toward putting an iPod and icelink into my car in place of the CD changer and would probably go the whole hog and throw in a multi function wheel at the same time.

I think I know the answer to this already but once I put in the new wheel will I need a dealer to activate it on the Modic or will it work out of the box?

Trawling through some of the info on the interweb it seems there are different airbags too. Am I right in thinking that once the wheel I'm replacing has a round panel in the centre for airbag and horn (it does) that I have the newer 2 stage airbag that will fit straight into a new steering wheel?

I'm looking to replace this:

With something like this:

On second thoughts, could I just get this:

If it works out cheaper than a new wheel off Ebay?

Milltown - I'm checking this out for my 330 at the moment.  The kit costs about €200 from the dealer for the 3 spoke wheel you've pictured above (the kit just adds the buttons to replace the plastic cover above the airbag with the button section and the loom connections).  I'm waiting to hear back from John Roche to see if there is recoding needed to activate but from some stuff I've read it seems to be a simple plug and play.  I'll let you know what I find out.

So, although it's listed as a cruise control installing set, it will definitely add the MF to my SW?

I actually got a reply from a dealer in England I got some stuff off before and he was kind enough to attach the PDF of the fitting instructions. Dunno if you've seen it but it looks a bit more involved than I was hoping. PM me an email address if you want a copy.

He's talking ~Ł150 from the UK so probably cheaper here. PDF says no coding is needed but one of his techs says it's needed for the cruise control to work.

Didn't need any coding to get the cruise control working on my old 328ci

Did you DIY using the retrofit kit Ken? BM say it's only an hour's work but it looks like a bit of a 'mare running the extra wiring into the loom, behind the glovebox and into the engine bay.
