The numbers 53 are being used before "ar" to get past filter and oo and 00 instead of uc are another example But unfortunately as fast you can update the filters the desparately illiterate will come up with something new. |

You could have driven yourself into hospital trying to do that. We all do "typos". But the amount of bad grammer and spelling is frightening. |

What he said ...... this forum is for ALL to view, I will continue to edit the unnecessary bad language - especially those "disguised" behind numbers and letters.
However, I will admit I have been accused of a being a pedant as far as grammar and spelling is concerned, and in the past I have corrected the most glaring errors. I have realised that this is totally pointless exercise and have ceased the thankless task! |

Dave what other conclusion could I come to, you used the vague term "nanny-like". If you had been clearer with your first post, instead of hiding it in innuendo, there would have been no confusion Where in the past I requested Moderators to act on posts. It has been because of the reasons above, and the moderators have acted promptly. And I honestly believe the only reason that moderators have to act is for those reasons Now Dave can you give an example of this excess moderating, instead of turning your back on what you just started. The strength of this forum is the control that kept it safe for all people to participate. Dave this is not personal against you, but a lot of "persons" have broke their back making this forum a success PS to Rhys "people's spelling" Now that was a tasty nit. |

Please Gerard... I think you are jumping to conclusions here.
You say "If by "nanny like" you mean blocking racist, sexist and otherwise abusive posts, I would hate to to see the type of material you would want on this site." Where did I say i would like to see "racist, sexist and otherwise abusive posts" The way you have suggested that I would, is in all honesty is quite offensive. Dave p.s. I don't think it's a good idea for me to respond to any more posts as I'm sure somebody is going to take it personally, and that was never my intention. Edited by 215DMX |

Personally I leave spelling alone - as it's the content of the post that is important. Some on here are dyslexic in one form or another. To me correcting people spelling is a bit nitpicking. My opinion.

Thanks for your support Gerard There is no agenda, we just try to keep the forum happy and suitable for all to view. If I have a comment to make, there has been a substantial increase in the amount of unnecessary bad language being used (and that includes making up words with numbers and characters to represent filtered words). This is maybe what you're seeing edited - removal of these. |

The moderators do an excellent job of keeping this forum from being a free for all. If by "nanny like" you mean blocking racist, sexist and otherwise abusive posts, I would hate to to see the type of material you would want on this site. The moderators have a duty to protect people from such material and should be supported in that function. Regarding spelling mistakes if a moderator corrected a spelling mistake of mine, I would thank them. For most of us on this forum English is our first language, so we should be proud of our language and education and present the best image possible to the rest of the world. Sadly, some of the non typographical errors show worrying weakness in the English language education systems. For example the numbur of times I have seen there/their and to/too wrongly used has surprised me. In conclusion, give the moderators credit for the work they do, that we regular forums members do not see, keeping this site safe for all users |

I hope this dosn't get taken in the wrong way...
It seems in recent months the site has become the domain of 'moderator disease' it just seems the site is becoming a bit 'nanny like'. We never really had this problem before, just wondering if there is a new agenda or not? correcting peoples spelling mistakes is taking things too far, don't you think? |
