My M3 has the factory 10 speaker upgrade. If I was to change the factory head unit, is it a easy job to fit a after market unit?  Would I need any extra connections? as someone has told me the car will have an "built in amp" due to the extra speakers.

When you buy an aftermarket headunit your dealer will also supply you with a with an ISO connector that attaches from your new headunit to the BMW wiring loom so there should be no need for any extra wiring. These cost an extra �9.99.
