Very good. When I started drinking in 1974 a pint was 16p (in a classy place in town!) In 2006, £0.16 from 1974 is worth £1.15 using the retail price index. So all these ‘experts’ who say drink has never been as cheap ‘relatively speaking’ are talking bullocks?
Can't quite remember the price of petrol - might have been 35p or 40p a gallon; so that's 55p or 63p a litre now. |
