I'm sorry I just had to post this, I just came across a gorgeous 1991 original Irish BMW 850i with only one owner+demo from new!! It was originally a demo for Maxwell Motors and it has a full service history from them. To me this looks absolutely too good to miss and it's only 8 grand. Has anybody seen this on the road before? Here's the link: http://www.usedcars.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car& ; ;carID=631942

If only you could justify the tax and insurance cost of a car like that....

Tis an excellent motor - I'm really tempted myself as I've the money sitting there (tis meant to be going with M3 sale money toward an Elise but I'm semi-young and stupid.....).

And sure anything over 3.0L is going to be 1,300 anyway, so as Kin says, you might as well go the whole hog

MMMMM

We're running a e32 750 as a family car the same basis, we were thinging of a e39 530d - but sure the tax is the same so why not.. more for fuel, but it cost 10grand less than a ropey galactic mileage e39. Cheap as chips and SOOOOO quick.

I'd love that if the kids were a few years older...

all that said, you'll end up getting mistaken for Gerry Ryan who runs an 840....and that wouldn't be good

That car needs a long term owner. It would be hard to justify it as a daily driver, but as a second or third car for someone with 8K of a SSIA burning a hole in his pocket it would be a great buy.

The 8 series that did a few track days looked spectacular even stopped the flowing lines made it look like it was doing 100mph

The current 6 series lines just do not flow in the same way.

The most beautiful thing about it is, unlike many 8 Series it is an original Irish car. It is definitely a very special car considering it was around in Ireland when the economy wasn't too good. I'd buy it in a flash if I had 8 grand burning a hole in my pocket

never liked the 8 series with the pop up head lights looked too much in the realm of a tr7 and its automatic, prefer the 6 series much more.

Were all 8 series automatic?

I wonder if anyone has converted one to manual. Now that would be a nice machine

I remember seeing a 96 850CSi Individual with a manual gearbox advertised, it was immaculate and it only had something like 20,000 miles.
