Not a word of a lie - was out driving down a motorway years ago - passed a lorry picking up traffic cones (one lane was blocked off for roadworks) a mile or so down the road there was another lorry putting them down!! Go figure???

Is it bee's that only have one sting and die, or am I talking utter cr*p?

so goverments are like wasps they keep stinging you

You are right bees will only sting you if they really have too as they will die but wasps will sting repeatedly.......nasty little insects!!

There will also have been a van with a speed camera in it. A few cones and a couple of idle workmen = temporary speed limit with camera enforcement these days.

Road works pay!

that'll also be associated to the Health and Safety at work act.

Someone will be writing down what work is being done, risk assessments for road workers, public safety, (hence the speed limit camera) and safety working zones for workmen..another will be taking ages to put cones out, another will be thinking about actually starting some work because the Health and safety assessor hasn't got through to him and finally there will be the infamous one who always watches what is going on and smoking a fag whilst leaning over the pneumatic drill.

what a nanny state we live in..

Whatever happened to actually doing the work as quick as possible to avoid traffic disruption/ flow and road workers using common sense at work.

The problem with common sense is, that it takes too long to document in job descriptions...

No point of them being on the M25 either, when they have the variable speed limit signs on, you can never reach the maximum speed anyway! I just don't see the point of traffic cams in a car park
