Propshaft noise?

   Hi I wonder if anyone can offer a bit of advise.  My e36 is making a metallic "click" noise on pull away or when I come off power.  I think it could be the driveshaft.  Are there any couplings that can wear or come loose?  Its an M3 evo conv' and to be honest I have given it some pounding so I wouldn't be surprised if I have bent something.  
Would welcome any views.
