just changed my front pads on my '02 and the brakes are realllly weak and idea's why

You have bled the all the air out? is it the 4 pot brakes?

sticky pistons then..
you have shoved them all the way back in ready for the new pads without seeing if they push back out again with the pedal.
You need to remove the pads.. get some one to push the pedal slowly so that they nearly pop out (bit of wood stops this) clean the pistons up back in and out again to see if it is smooth then in with the pads.. make sure the pads can slide in and out as well and not get stuck on 30 year old crud.
