Just reading in EVO that the new M3(E92) will be  £50,625. Considerably dearer that the E46. The last of the line CS's were £44k.

It's no doubt going to be a great car but over £50k seems a bit pricey to me.

It's a BMW, they can charge whatever they like that means.

I'm sure the options list will be quite extensive too.

They are straying into 911 territory with a price like that. Risky business if you ask me.

Especially with the 335i coupe not being far behind in performance.

Its a considerable step up from the 335i (M Sport) which is £35,760 so trying to keep the M3 separate from non-M cars isn't the reason.
Actually just looking but the Z4M Coupé is only £41,865 - £9K less than the price for the new M3

That'll keep the residuals on the e46 M3 a bit higher. Makes sense to price it
a good bit higher then the Z4M as it has the new V8 engine. I hope the
options list is 'M6 low' all the same.

Thats the same money as Audi's competition with the RS4 model.  The price would be OK, but BMW tend to have far too many additional cost options which can become tedious and expensive for customers, in this respect its probably too high when the car is spec'd up.

I agree that some distance should be kept between models but pricing the M3 up to 33% higher than the Z4M is a huge jump!

Perhaps BMW don't want to sell too many of the new M3's to make sure it
doesn't outsell the 335i/d. They could still make more money selling half
the number of M3's if they've stuck on a larger profit margin. Also the M3
Saloon will be cheaper then the Coupe to compete a little more with the RS4.
Not that there's much competition. The RS4 sounds amazing but I imagine
the M3 will too.

In my opinion, they've got everything so right on the E92 M3 but have screwed up on price which really is a shame. The 335i is more of a Q-car that rivals the likes of the forthcoming Audi S5.

I think BMW have got it right tho, £50,625 for the V8 M3, definitely will make it more exclusive. Just like the E46 CSL compared to the E46 M3. In 5 years time they'll be half that price so, I'll just bide my time, unless of course, lady luck comes a knocking.

Wonder who will be the first to open it up round the nurburgring?

There was a CSL for sale in N. Conlan's recently, nice car but not worth the money over a regular M3.

They are if you can afford them and are willing to use them on the track. But
I wouldn't buy one if was going to be my daily driver. It's too compromised
for that. No radio, no air, no seat adjustment. No doubt there will be a new
CSL in a couple of years.

There was a comparison done between the S5 and the M3 in the sunday times. On looks and straight line speed the S5 won (as far as the jour was concerned on looks) but on a track/windy roads the M3 beat the S5 hands down.
