All depends on what's wrong...

To run a diag on the car and reinitialise the sensor I usually charge €150. At the end of that if reinitialising doesn't fix it I usually turn the function off for people.

Some customers do want it working correctly and it can run to hundreds... Even €1k if it needs screen & sensor etc. All depends...

Rain Sensors can be "funny"...

1st thing is to get the sensor reinitialised (properly) - there's a set procedure with a scan tool to do this.

If this fails you can try to find out why... Sometimes the screen, sometimes the sensor...

Finally - you can Code the car to behave with normal intermittent rather than rain sensor on the Car/Key Memory Options.

I was having trouble with mine after the windscreen had to be replaced. I took off the cover and pressed the sensor in as hard as i could. after a while when i knew it was working i replaced the cover and still working.

The sensor system on my 520 and 535 worked perfectly.......however the rest of them didnt so I'm opting for dodgy wiper sensor!

Mine had a problem on the 328, never did get to the bottom of it, the wipers just stopped working on a few occasions, really dangerous, had to remember never to put them on the first click!  Wish I'd known you could get intermittent if you unplugged the sensor!

I reckon they're going to have to dismantle/remove the sensor to replace the windscreen so just ask them not to reconnect.

Sorry to hear bout that though...........not heard of people just smashing windows much but then again it tends to be wing mirrors and running over the tops of cars round here

Very true.. I've tried E46 Fanatics and there is no fix unless you unplug your sensor (Get professional to do it) And then you have Intermittent wipers.

On another bomb shell Somebody smashed my windscreen Last night!!!
wots that all abt??? Am getting it replaced on Sunday.

Gutted..............

If you ask me its just another thing to go wrong.. Intermittent wipers are a lot better, and more reliable. My last Bm (E36 328i sport) never had these problems. Although it would be nice if they worked! My mates E38 work really well.
