Driving home from work on Tues on the Ashbourne bypass at a speed of 120ish kph got a blow-out. It was on the dsb wheel, first time this has ever happened. Had no problem steering the car if the turn wasnt to quick, pulled over to the hard shoulder to change the wheel.

Got the nuts off no prob, think I could get the wheel off  rusted onto the hub. Kicked the bej***** out of the wheel (I'am sure people driving past thinking what a nutter) ended up useing the spare wheel as a sledge hammer. At home inspected the other wheels noticed a cracking on the inside wall of each tyre not multiple cracks just one continuous crack around the tyre worried I am.

The tyres are two years old 18x225 with about 30k on them good tread left. Is the shelf life of the tyres gone hence the cracking or is there some other problem.

Tyres have had it by the sounds of things... by rights i'd say you should change them all, especially as you've had a blow-out from one of them.

How long have they been on the car?

A tip for all - if it's stuck on, put the nuts back on and just hand tighten them, drop the car, and rock gently forward & back. I'd an old E34 that I bought as a donor car, drove it the half mile from my gaff to home, and set about taking wheels off - they might as well have been welded on. 'gently' made way for '5k & a dumped clutch'. That loosened the two rear ones nicely.

two years this Sept. Cant remember what make of tyre will have a look when i get home.

I wouldnt expect that after two years, even with cheapo tyres. I've heard before you should consider changing after two years regardless off thread left, but that should be comfortably within any expected "self-life" of the rubber.

Find out the make and give the dealer / distributor / manufacturer a call. I wouldnt expect or accept this as the norm.

The accepted life of a tyre is 6 years from date of manufacture. I'd say the
size of the tyre has more to do with it. 18's on an e36 will have a very low
profile. Is the tread ware even? Maybe the car is putting more pressure on
the inside of the tyre.

I'd change all 4 tyres. Go with the best you can afford.

Wasn't there a batch of contenitals recalled about three years ago ??? two years is very suspect, what the stamp date on the tyre ?

I had a blow out 8 years ago in the 2002 with 5 ( drunk/merry) lads in the car going from Lucan to Maynooth, I just about kept it together but the most memorable bit was how quiet a bunch of lads get when things are going very wrong !!!

Thr rear camber is putting more pressure on the inside wall, tread ware matching conclusion, so me thinking from changing the wheels around has caused all to be the same

Isn't the rear camber adjustable on E36's?

I thought it was.
