Why are you getting rid of it?  I can remember you looking for it and buying it, doesn't seem that long ago.

I'm looking for a 530i Sport on an 03/53 plate, Auto, leather.  Yours is a manual init?

What are you going to drive instead?

Andrew

I've had it a year and I love it, but alas I am reaching a time in my life where I just cannot afford to run such a big car anymore. I'm currently saving to buy a new house and there may well be children on the way in the not too distant future. 26mpg, tyres over £100 a corner and the other costs associated with an E39 are just too much at the moment.

Not decided exactly what is going to replace her yet, but it will be smaller and not a BMW. Parts prices and general servicing costs are just too expensive, for the moment at least.

Yes it is a manual.

As long as you don't get a diesel people carrier!  You'll be buying a cardigan, a pipe and some slippers next.

If you are planning kids you need a practical 4 door family saloon which has a decent sized boot.  Now what car can you get that matches that spec oh I know an E39!

I can appreciate what you are saying about the running costs though.  I only get over 30mpg on a long run.  Commute to work is more like 28 mpg!

I'm getting married 4 weeks on Sat and the guys at work are pulling my leg about having to buy a people carrier for the sprogs!  I'll be keeping a BMW of some sorts, hopefully a newer E39 530iA Sport.

Where was the second pic taken, that background looks familiar?

Second pic was taken just outside of a town called Saltburn. The trees behind are Errington woods. It's actually on a track just of a roundabout that runs up to a farm. I took it on the way to work one day.

TBH the practicallity isn't really an issue. The replacement isn't necessarilly going to have 4 doors and is probabaly not going to be a diesel. It will definatley not be a people carrier. However it will be cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, get better MPG and be a car that is either cheaper to service, or one I can service myself. Either way I expect to save around £100 a month on running costs/fuel and about £50 a month on finance. The extra cash will make all the difference when going for a new house.

Mind you speaking of practicallity the E39 isn't exactly ideal anyway. The lack of folding rear seats means that my wifes focus, despite being considerably smaller is 10X more practical.

Not where I was thinking the picture was taken.  Does show of the car nicely and the polished headlights that I remember reading about.

Hmm a few valid points, at least you aren't going to buy a diesel or a people carrier .

I know you aren't keen on servicing the E39 yourself,  if only I had a wee bit more time I'd do it myself but that's the whole point isn't!

Well good luck with the new wheels.

Good looking car.  Can I suggest that you put the year in  the ad?  Or am I missing something again?
