Need 2 tyres for the e34. 225/60/15. The cheapest i could find was
eiretyres. Federal SS657 all weather for 69 euro or Hankook W300 winter
for 75.70euro. Both prices include delivery but not fitting. Has anyone
bought off of Eiretyres? Has anyone used either of these tyres? Any
recommendations or suggestions?

Ring your local tyre centre. See what they charge for fitting and ballancing
the tyres and get a price for the tyre as well. You might get a good price on that size from them. I've shopped around a bit for all my tyres and always find a good deal. I wouldn't go for winter tyres for this country though. We generally just get wet weather rather then ice which IIRC is what winter tyres are for. |

Thanks Alex. Wonder if the all weather tyres might be the way to go then? Summer tyres make me think of dry roads, which we seldom get. Always used to get the Good Year All Weathers on the mk2 Escort. They made happy noises round the bends. Mind you, they were only about 20quid a corner back then.

I've bought from Eiretyres a couple of times and its been painless. I had the tyres delivered direct to the nearest fitting agent to me. Delivery took just a few days. The fitting agent charged me a tenner a corner for fitting, balancing and disposing of the old tyres. Even on top of the price of the tyres it still worked out well on price.

adzy, i bought toyos from eiretyres and got them fitted at hanover tyres at the back of supervalue near the Glen in waterford city, i buy toyos off them now and including fitting it works out to be the same price, might be worth giving them a go, if they can't supply they'll fit what you bring in, although it would be a good idea to ring them first to make sure, ya don't want to get landed with them.

Cheap and tyres should no go together. Anything slightly wrong with mine I change immedately, be it a bump scrape or so on. It is what grips you onto the road and lack of traction or falure could be devistating. A good well priced tyre I would recomend for wet or dry would be Goodyear Eagle F1 or Dunlop SP 9000. Actually, just realised the size you are running... maybe those tyres do not come in that size. Pick a good brand anyway. Edited by Kin Mak |

i heard that about nankangs alright, but as adzy has more or less said...down to driving style. i have only ever bought toyos great tyre, have heard the side wall is a bit soft on them and the Proxi T1-R's are being discontinued as far as i've been told so for "performance" (the little i need) and thread pattern i think i'll go with the Eagle F1's.... Adzy - have you run on any other tyres to compare? |

I wouldn't touch nankangs with a barge pole especialy on heavy beemers grip might not matter if you dont push it but it sure will when you have to brake in a hurry or if you have to swerve around something

Just bought 2 tyres for the Kangoo I did not go the Eiretyres route, just lazy I suppose Anyway a comparison I paid €140 at a Co. Limerick tyre outlet Just looked up Eiretyres €114.80 for a pair now from the Eiretyres website fitting seems typically €10 per tyre so total is now 134.80 and some places charge for disposal of old tyres e.g. €3 per tyre now add that on and it comes to €140.80 Oops that is more than the traditional route! The local supplier also did my tyre rotate and moved the worst wheel to be a spare (I must get a couple of better steel rims soon!) for the €140. The tyres were Yokohama A-drive reinforced for van use So what I am saying is shop around your local suppiers as well as using the Eiretyres route. |
