HELP.E38 DEAD LOCKED

   I have a 1996 740i e38, the battery went flat locked me out,my local bmw specialist garage managed to open the boot and fit a new battery,they bypassed a circuit to open the windows and a laptop connected to the obd socket but they would not communicate. The doors are locked inside and out and the engine won't turn over let alone start. I can only get in through the windows, i have tried resetting the key both ways and by turning the key with handle halfway i've even done the disconnect the battery terminals and touch together for 30 secs still no joy.all electrics stereo,lights,windows & sunroof are working. ANY ideas on how to cure this would be greatly wecome thanks.

	Hi Casino1 Can you find out exactly what the BMW specialist did? What part of the OBDII they had to access to get into the car...what curcuit did they bypass too? You should not have to do any of this anyway. If the battery dies, you simply put the key in the boot and turn it anti-clockwise past the resistance point and the boot pops open. You then disconnect the battery and re-connect it. Close the boot and unlock the car with the remote... I have done this twice to my 1998 740I, so I know the procedure works... Thanks BB
