I have an E34 525i the same colour as yours, but mines an early one, 1988.

Whilst I was helping my mate rub it down to respray it we found that the bumpers and sills were body coloured (the bottom bits of the bumpers), and then painted black, must just be how bm do it.

So I have left them silver, sills stone chipped finish of course, but still silver.

I notice on your car the rubber trim along the bottom of the doors, and the matching bits on the front wing and rear wheel arch are also silver, mine of course are black...I think your looks better as mine now has two black lines.

Did you buy these ? or as its a sport is that how it comes ?

As far as i know it came like this from the factory as it is a Sport, it has the same bodykit+interior as the M5

My car isn't a sport and it too has body colour trim at the bottom of the doors and the sills.  Maybe they added it to the SEs in later years.  I have a few pics if anyone can host them.

I think the sport sills are convex as well as keyed, whereas the se sills are concave. The chin spoilers are different too. INterestingly ascotgrun, your sills look like sport ones but the chin spoiler looks se! Prob you're right and it is a late-model thing.
