I've managed to find out that DDE = Digitale Diesel Elektronika - what it actually does (in English) eludes me at the moment |

Its probably worth checking to see if there's water in the water trap on the fuel filter. I dunno if the diesel 5 series has such a thing but my Transit does so I suspect a sophisticated car may have.

When the missus ran out of diesel, this light stayed on for about a week after. I later read in the manual that it stays on for a number of cycles. And yes it was the missus.. I was drunk in the passenger side telling her "yeah, don't worry theres loads left" oops |
