Electric BMW Coming to America?

The move may be a response to fuel-efficiency regulations.  Autoblog explains, "BMW's U.S. success means that come 2012, it will be considered a large vehicle manufacturer here in the States. In preparation for that, BMW will decide this year on whether to make ‘an ecologically-compatible car for the U.S. market,' most likely to help the automaker meet more stringent CAFE standards that are forthcoming."

The concept may still be in the earliest stages of discussion.  According to Mobile Magazine, "It's unclear exactly what sort of size (or price) this new BMW will be, so we can't say for certain whether it'll be a sporty number like the Tesla Roadsterk, a generic-looking sedan, or hopped-up crossover."
