Welcome to the forum!
Sunroof in a convertible? Do you mean the roof doesn't come down but the car thinks it does?

Check all fuses before doing anything else.

If your car is a E36, the motors can be reattatched by removing the carpet that covers the area in the boot where the folded soft-top is stored and pushing the motors back up into position, they probably pulled the lever under the rear seat bench which disconnects the motor.
