MY E30 1.8i takes for ever to heat up before i hop in to drive it im talken say 30mins and its just cuming out of the blue at that stage theres a new rad fitted and also wen driven the hand on the temp gauge go's almost half way on to the blue does dis happein to any1 or wats the reason why it takes dis long.

I'd say the thermostat is gone. It easy and cheap to replace. Try GSF in Dublin (01 4606062) for part.

either thermostat or theres an air lock

it was grand untill i got a new gear box fitted it heat up in a short while then while driven the needle would cum back down just above the blue on the gauge ill bring it up to a lad tomorrow to check it out and if it needs any thing ill be on the phone to GSF Parts

Thermostat gets my vote too. Had that problem on my E36.
