Cleaning interior alarm sensor

   We seem to have traced the 540s intermittent alarm fault to the interior sensor so I'm guessing its clean time for this.

Have read elsewhere that a good start point is hoovering but has anyone done this........and if so, do I have to drop the cover (how do you do this as well?)?
