    Posted: 13-April-2009 at 22:53

Can any of you guys help me with what I should be doing to clean & protect the soft top of my 325 convertible?

I have just spent a day on the paintwork so the car is looking good but I dont want the soft top bringing the look of the car down. Although its fine just now (I think it has been well looked after by the previous owner or not used allot.....the car has a hard top too!) some advice would be appreciated so I can protect and look after it properly.

Here is a pic of the car on sat......

I did this the other day

Brush any crap you have on roof then spray the roof and scrub with the sponge you get with it then rinse untill no more soap appears

dry off with towel and leave for couple of hours

then spray the roof with conditioner (all the bottle)

wipe any over spray off windows

I washed car carefully without getting roof wet to get any over spray off

then put car in garage for 24 hours for roof to dry

comes up great

Issy

I have been using Turtle Wax cleaner and conditioner (2 spray ons)then then every few months the BMW Impregnating Agent (3 capfuls to 1 litre of water sponged on...bottle is 250ml and about £20 from a dealer)...results good so far but ,then again the roof is only 9 months old. Have to say you need to watch how much of the agent you get on the car as it got on the rear and front windows that left a film on them and some of the body work that took a little elbow grease to cleaned off afterwards

Let me know how the Autoglym stuff goes as I too found it difficult to decide what to use on the soft top!  Dealership was not at helpful when I asked them!
