Guys

What do you think of buying diagnostic gear?

Example http://www.carsoftsales.com/bmw73/pricelist.html

I've got a fault with the E60 which I'll probably need to get BMW to look at, but if I had the gear I could diagnose it myself and sort it.

It is about 400 euro so it is a big plunge.

Is there any good makes out there or ones to avoid?

Ebay looks like a good source of cheaper bits than the 400 euro mentioned above.

Any thoughts?

Andrew

Hmmmm.

Not sure on this one. Other than tell you the specific fault codes what else does it do?

From experience knowing the fault code doesn't always lead straight to the solution so i'm not sure it's going to be as easy as it sounds.

If you're feeling flush though then get it and let us know how it goes!

Yeah I saw that one, I've asked Stephen his thoughts on the subject.
