Hey guys. New on the board. A lot of great and interesting topics here.I have some to contribute but at the moment i need a little help please. I have been working on a friends 06 520d and need to reset the oil service and rear brake pad service interval. I have played around and have a current 07 autodata but the details are a little vague. It will tell you to hold down the button in the instrument cluster for 10 secs and then you should have the service reset up but...I am getting a series of codes and you turn the knob to get additional codes but what do they mean?? You obviously have to have that data to complete the reset. Anybody out there know the story?

Welcome to the forum.

If you pm me your e-mail address I can e-mail you how to re-set the idrive for up to 06 models.

The idrive gets reset with a combination of twisting the ignition key and holding down/pressing/releasing the trip reset button.  You don't turn this button and you don't press or touch the idrive controller.

Just out of interest, what mileage has the oil burner got on it to warrant new rear brake pads?  Mine still has about 20,000 miles to go for rear pads and has been saying that for about the last 4,000 miles.
