Hello, I have a E39 530d mtec, but its fairly down on power. I had a diagnostics done on it and the mechanics of it all are fine. What it needs is a bit of tuning. Is there any advise anyone would have for me on this? any jokers to avoid out there? and is there any where/one that ye would recommend? Im situated in Mayo. Thanks |

For a start the mapping will not resatore lost power and you should investigate why it went down first. Could be one or a set of the follwing: MAF, Cylcone breather, air filter, fuel filter, injector, turbo, and so on. If you just put a mapping on it the initial problem will still be there and the increased fueling anf boos pressure might cause even more problems. Best guy in Ireland is Autoremap ask for Martin and mention I sent you as he will make you a good price. Anyone who went to him was more then happy. Oh and welcome to the board HTH Chris edited as I forgott to tell you that BMWCARE is in Galway so next to you Eddie is a sound guy knows his BMW's and has dealer level diagnostics. His details are on this board somewhere Edited by beemerchris |

I second what Chris has said - do not remap until you sort out the source of the power loss. In fact, sometimes I've had to remove a performance tune to diagnose a problem.. (And sometimes it was the tune itself!) My workshop is not far from Claremorris if it suits you. Alternatively if it's just plug in & look I can do it in Claregalway. Kind Regards, Eddie. PS: Just "reading the codes" is not proper diagnostics. Sometimes it's very simple and a code tells you what is wrong. Often times that will not show up what is wrong and sometimes codes can lead you down the wrong path if you do not understand why they are setting... Edited by bmwcare |

i agree with chris and eddie ... get a proper dia done and maybe a smooth run test... steeler software required but sounds like eddie got it .. bmw can be tricky and u need a expert not just a ordinary mechanic ...
