Hi I fitted E39 wheels. 16" roulette but only with 225 x 50 x 16. I have just bought cheap ones off ebay but these were 225 x 55 x 16 and the fronts had to be fitted with spacers, something I do not approve of. So I now have SEVEN E39 alloys with duff tyres. Perhaps you can get 225 x 50 x 16 tyres cheap?

Hello I think 55 profile tyres will thump and bang to much, it's the main thing I don't like about modern cars. My pub car is a Y plate Nissan Primera and have just fitted 65 instead of 60 and it gives a smoother ride and just as responsive and less chance in bending the rims our badly maintained roads. One alloy wheel has a dent. I agree, I would not use wheel spacers and I assume longer wheel studs. I like to keep my cars standard, less problems. Is any one breaking an E23 in the Sheffield, Doncaster,Nottingham area? Am looking for some small parts |

The original wheel and tyre arrangement were the metric or 14 inch steel rims both on 55 profile. So I am getting a smoother ride and it is really an improvement over the 50's. The E30 had 4 stud wheels except the M3 so try for wheels off a 5 series or 6 series. Tons on Ebay. |

Hello The metric wheels may have been 55 profile, according info I have 14 inch were 195 -70, same as E3. My car is fitted with 205 -70. May be not very responsive after all it's a cruiser not a sports car. Nigel |

I have e39 sport rim's on my 86 e23 255 40 17 rear and 225 45 17 on the front, drives spot on and looks great, no rubbing grinding off any sorts. on the 82 e23 I have 255 45 17's from a e34. for the more vintage look you can get the 15" BBS from a e34 I had 225 55 15's I think on a e28. |
