e36 weak spots

   hello there, this is probsbly a question i should have asked prior to purchasing my car but are there any particular foibles/weak spots to pay attention to on an e36 316i touring.It`s a car on the cusp between worth sorting and not, there are a few paint issues to sort and a couple of minor mechanical issues namely warped front discs and a little whine from the diff.I`m kind of hoping a fluid change will sort the diff out i`ve found in the past these tasks go a long way on a bmw.
also are there any particular areas to pay attention to with regular maintenance other than the usual oil filters etc
