I was in my local bmw dealer today, getting a few consumables for my old E34. I was having a nose around the showroom, and a very nice 118d in fire engine red took my attention, but for the wrong reasons ! The paint finish was awful, absolutely awful, it looked like the car had suffered from chicken pox. I looked more closely at other colours, and they were all the same, even a �68,000 6 series convertable in black, just some colours showed this up more than others. Is this the "evil" of these water soluable paints ? |

I think so. I've noticed that real close up the paint finish on my wifes mazda 6 isn't as good as you woukd expect. From a distance it looks great but close up it's not as smooth as you'd hope.

Under the showroom lights you will see every little blemish and mark on the paintwork. Not to mention all the swirl marks caused by salesmen out wipping off finger prints with yellow dusters. Not remember the post about the guy who bought some brand new chavved up Astra and inspected the paint and was seriously thinking about rejecting the car because of it. He then went on and did a full paint correction on it. BMW paint is one of the hardest you can get today according to the detailing fraternity. So it should withstand knocks well. |

I'm wondering if i should buy the paint for my sport the now while i can still get cellulose ( is that the correct spelling?)

Are you sure your original is cellulose and not two pack ?
