Flying V - gutted.....

Just been to the council tip to get rid of a load of junk and leaning against the wall was an Epiphone 58 Korina flying V
 I asked the lads on the site if they wanted it, they said no - great I though. Can I have it??? No was the reply, I wasn't allowed to remove it from the tip - was told I was on CCTV and it would take my reg... For them I could have had it as it was going in the wood skip.. Their boss was there as well so they couldn't sling it over the fence either. Damn it..! All it needed was a polish up and some new strings, it had a repaired crack on the body but everything else was there.. Drove away gutted and peed off.

I had a look round and there's no way I could sneak in.. plus I was on camera (I saw it) The lads there were genuine enough and would've let me have it if there were no cameras.

It was an Epiphone V and a Korina one as well. It had some stickers on the body and a bit of a split that had been repaired but not detrimental. Some of the metalwork was going rusty round the string holes etc. but all the pick-ups were OK (Gold as well as in the pics) and the neck was perfect.

Not trying to think about it as it's really annoying me.. 

Had you taken it, what could have happened you? Surely the
polis wouldn't charge you with theft?
