hi guys today while driving home my nearside tension strut snapped  and what a scary moment that was.i was doing about 50 mph, got the aa out who examined it and thankfully there is no other damage apart from the tension strut.now my question is how much would one cost? ive been on europarts site but its not listed.any thoughts or prices would be gratefully received cheers in advance

Eurocar parts do list it.

ECP refer to it as simply a suspension arm. 

There are two "lower" suspension arms on the E39, one is called the tension arm (the front one) and the other (the rear one) is called the control arm or wishbone.  ECP just refer to the two different parts as suspension arms but the pictures and part numbers are different.

Tension strut is £86.30 from ECP , part #4 here

Control arm or wishbone is £93.06 from ECP or part #11 in the realoem link.

Lemforder is the OEM part, they are an offshoot from ZF transmissions believe it or not.

One of the arms when removed and replaced will require a full four wheel alignment afterwards.
