What an insult to the real General Lee, some scrap E30 painted up to look like the real 1969 Dodge Charger. I'm dissapointed I thought I was going to see the real charger with the 7.2litre V8 Hemi (the sound of those carbs is great), or atleast Daisy Duke. Must dig out my Dukes of Hazzard DVD collection, all 7 series of them Sad...I know... |

Thanks....I think.... It's just a pity that everytime they jump a Charger it ends up as orange scrap when it lands. Now I know what happens it's actually a shame that a Hemi powered car ends up like that. Some of those jumps they needed a few more lbs of lead in the boot to balance out the weight of the engine, the nose drops very quickly with the weight of such a large engine and it spears the ground on landing... Even on some of the proper Duke of Hazzard Episodes if you freeze frame it you can see the outer wings buckle on landing. Usually the camera cuts away but you can see the crease starting on some. The 7 series used over 300 Chargers, all reduced to baked bean tin cans by the end of the shows. I don't like watching the Italian Job now, watching all those classic cars from the 1960's ending up as scrap. It's now a Horror film if you ask me! |

It was a TV series which ran from 1979 to 1985 or 1986 in this country, which will be what you are remembering. There was 7 series and about 140+ episodes. I remember watching it as a kid on a Saturday night. There have been a number of films made since. The best one was the 2005 film which had Jessica Simpson in it, which is the only other reason to watch it other than to hear the sound of that V8 Hemi.....
