Hi all,
while driving the 320d, E46 estate ,two warning lights came on the
dash,
the brake warning light(amber) and the DSC. operating the DSC switch did
nothing. car drove fine.
we took it in to our local garage and had a diagnostic check, 4 faults
came up.
1,0222glow plug no.2
2.0083 stop light switch
3,3F48 brake light switch
4,0232 glow plug no.3.
they asked us to "drive round the block" and did a re-test,
this time just the two glow plugs came up.
they told us ,by replacing the glow plugs this would sort out the lights
that came on the dash.
question is, would it ?. we have had no trouble in starting the car, so i am
surprised that the plugs need replacing and that it would "sort things out"
by the way , brake fluid is fine.
any ideas !!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheers,
Roger.

If it's producing a fault on two of the glow plugs imediately after they were cleared then the first course of action  is to replace them.

The other warning lights could just be spurious errors. It's not unheard of.

Glow plugs will not put on the DSC light.

Get a full diagnostic done of all modules.

Eddie.

When you say amber brake warning light. Could it be the ABS light?

Hi Gary,
no, it's not the ABS.
it is the ( page 79 in my handbook) "telltale and warning lights" the DSC is on
all the time(amber) and theDBC is on all the time(amber) red when
handbrake is on.
these came on together, pressing the DSC button does not do anything !.
iv'e had one diagnostic check done but just two glow plugs came up as iffy.
regards,
Roger

Hi, just to let you know of the outcome(i hope) of the warning lights ,my
local garage did a diagnostic check and just the glow-plugs came up as iffy.
but they said that the problem would be sorted, to cut a long story short my
garage took my car to a specialist BMW outfit for a diagnostic check and the
sensor came up as faulty , so it was replaced , and so far so good !!!
many thanks to all of you who replied to my question.
Roger and out
