Can anyone help !

I recently bought an X reg 520i and get vibration through the drivers seat between 75 and 85 mph. I've had the wheels balanced but made no difference and dealer says there isn't a problem. Trying to ignore it but very difficult !!!

Don't you know, the speed limit in the U.K is 70 MPH!!

It might be a very small lump in the tyre?

Did you get the back tyres balanced. Get the tracking done too

there can be a problem with one or more tires. some of them can "jump" because of the erronous production. I faced this situation two times. one was related to pirelli. and other one was maxxis. when maxxis were new they changed one of the tires that was jumping. dont let them ignore your problem.they should solve it.

 

if problem is not tire related you should check upper on lower control arms plus rotors and wheel themselves.

I had the same problem on my T reg 520 with newly fitted Michelins from a well known national fitter. Went to a different fitter and had them re-balanced. They were not only way-out, but one tyre hadn't been seated correctly and as a consequence had far too much lead on it to counteract this. The first fitter hadn't balanced the inner rims either. Now all ok.

Try different roads ! My route into work (the only 70mph road I regularly travel on) has a series of anomolies along it's full length. These get in sync with the car and show as a 65 - 80mph vibration. Other fast roads are ok.

could be an off centre tread , or it could be the prop out of balance ! its rare but it can happen
