I completely agree, if I didn't have Tommy the Transit I'd have winter tyres in a shot. As we all know RWD and a few horses is a bad combination in slippy conditions.

I tried sensible driving in my 328 two winters ago.
After two hours and 3 rescues by passers by giving me a shove i gave up and put it in the garage for the next 3 months Ermm

Last year i used winter tyres and wasn't stuck once.

Brilliant video but I'm not having my summer tyres for only July and August cos the rest of the year ties in with the winter tyre operating characteristics and they cost a fortune. I'll agree with Andrews previous post about sensible driving. ( and stick to the Transit for winter) lol

b****x, I am a vocational driver and drive many thousands of miles a year and both my E39 and my E46 are just crap in the snow. I agree that people should minimalise their risk of getting into trouble and if using tyres specifically designed to be used in the snow does that, then fair play to them. I had over 24" of snow in my estate last year and trust me, only 4x4's were getting in or out for a few days. (one of which, towing me in my Transit)
