Hi chaps,

can anyone tell me why my instrument cluster stopped working this morning?
speedo
rev counter
fuel economy
fuel guage
temp guage

all are non responsive.

E39 gremlin
 
Mine did this once.  Pretty scary driving it home!
 
Parked it up for a couple of hours then went to move it and all dials sprang into life.
 
I'd put money on all things working the next time you turn on the ignition.
 
I replaced the battery and the fault never re-appeared.
Be exclusive and drive a Petrol 5 Series!

I've not had the full faliure ........ yet, but I did lose the speedo (abs ecu was at fault), even with gps, it seems so wrong lol
 
Let us know how you get on, as mine is bound to do it soon, it seems to be going through each module in turn !

If it persists, try disconnecting the battery overnight.  I've solved one or two gremlins on the e39's in this way.  If it doesn't help, then its probably time to get a diag read done.
