My suggestion is that there are too many sub forums here.

Do you not think ??

hard to get the momentum going on some of these topics

I think having everything in one place will probably help, but we'll need to make sure subject lines are descriptive... I know I was only really checking the fora in which I had some interest or knowledge, now I'll have to go into posts to see if they're of interest to me.

Are you going ahead with the same change for regions?

I think for the moment I will leave the regions as they are - there is a calendar where events can be displayed, being developed at present (I'm waiting on feedback from the regional organisers) and once online, maybe I will have a look at making just one or two regional fora.
I purposely didn't change any of the existing posts headings to make them clearer (ie add in car type etc.) as this would have taken ages.

Good idea to group all the maintenance problems/answers under one heading, providing everyone gets into the habit of identifying what model they are talking about, in the opening thread.  Could prove time consuming otherwise.  Hope it works out.

Having just got rid of lots of sub headings, I don't suppose you would consider adding a dedicated one for 'Sale' items?

I will look into a 'for sale' forum but I am not sure whether this may conflict with the facilities Howard has already put in place on the site.

I've just posted this in another question, but will do again. I don't think by regions is the way to go, you should have broken it down to series numbers as opposed to regions, i.e 3, 5, 7's etc. Personally I don't like the way it sits now. If you want to post a question on an e30 problem do you have to go to your region? I'd rather not, I'd prefer a knowledgable answer from anyone, anywhere. The way it is now, is too confusing, especially for people coming here for the first time, after all it makes the club sound a bit elitist, and that's not how it should come across.

Use the maintenance forum to ask technical questions (actually I will rename it the technical forum)

just thinking, I believe (for what that is worth) that the current set up is better i.e. have individual regions and one technical because each region can discuss its own issues and any technical issues will be catered for by all rather than just one type of owner.
Furthermore there were two 'E' fora which were unused at all (X5 & new 7).
Should I consider removing the regions and have a single club issues forum (there already is a club events forum)?

I personally prefered the previous choice of forums.

For example I own an E30 and am in the Wessex region. I browsed through some of the other forums at my leisure but i checked the Wessex and E30 forums very often as they were most prominent to myself.

With the set up now I'd have to browse all the forums to view the E30 related info and sift through loads of non-related (ie E36 etc) threads in the Wessex forum.

Just my opinion, Maybe i'm just being selfish

Not being selfish, to keep the number of forums down do one for the 3 series, 5 series, 6 etc, that'll take care of the all the variants within that car type, then see what response you get for the newer types say the X5 etc.  Personally I tend to look for the car type I'm interested in, and not the region as such. I would look there to see what events are on or are due to be held.....after all it's an excellent source of information, so it should be kept as easy to use as possible, as others use it, & not just CC members.

Regardless of what is adopted, well done Mr Webmeister, your doing great.

but doing that may not be the best as cars of a certain era have more similarities than cars of the same e no.
I will do what the majority feel is best but at the same time I want the board to be as simple as possible.
You may be right that the regions need to go and expand the technical back into individual series or E no.s  but I want it to be what others want also - so everyone, tell me what would be best. (I could make a voting application to help us decide )

I agree with many of the comments.  There are too many sections.   I agree that the sections should be 3, 5, 7, z 02 etc etc

I would like to see the return of the E no sections, personally I found the forum quicker to search and use.

Since coming across this forum I think it is the best souce of information that any bmw owner will ever need.

thanks to everyone runs the forum and the many helpfull owners out there.

Would agree with the 3's, 5's, 6's, 7's split FWIW

But thankyou for spending the time on us, it is well appreciated, a big thumbs up!

This is definitely one of the better forums I've been on. The other one I frequent regularly is www.blatchat.com for the Lotus 7 club where it's easier as they only have one model really!

Yep I would like to see either the return of 'E' numbers or 3,5,7 etc sections. Its a lot easier to follow & having just one maintanance section for everything. Have you seen how many threads there are in there? Thats mad!

Personally I have used the site less since the change cos I can't just dive into one section but I do agree that the regions definately need cutting back

OK OK OK!!! I will set up the forums again so that there is a 3, 5, 6, 7 etc forums. Now what particular ones will I use? Should the 8 get its own? '02 etc. I dread the thought of moving the posts to individual fora though.

I will in a few weeks remove the regions (assuming people don't object to that)

K.
