Regardless of where you source it from, I think it will then need to be re-coded to match your car?

Dead pixels can be repaired, the tacho probably can also, have a look at some of these repairers,

i'm pretty sure that if a rev counter not working it is also a sign of a faulty ABS sensor?  (might be the rear drivers side?)

You are thinking of the speedo, it comes off one of the rear wheel sensors, tacho will be from the ECU.  Faulty cruise control is another sign of a knackered rear wheel sensor.

Well stroke of luck Hug found one on ebay and got it for £30 , pixels are like new and all working. Only thing is gone from 116000 miles to 147300 but can live with that. The little red light is on bottom left corner of trip milage but think this is the tamper light everyone is saying about. Now does anyone know if the milage can be matched back to the original milage with going to bmw????
Thanks for all the help above though big help guys Beer

BMW might not do it on used clock, but others out there will happily,

a quick google reveals this lot,

http://www.mileagecorrectionservices.co.uk/

no experience of them and I'm sure there are many others out there.
