330i Driver's rear complete drive shaft with ABS

Hi,

I got the dreaded ABS/Parking brake/DSC lights problem recently and the garage I take my car to have said that the abs ring completely disintegrated when they tried to fix the sensor. They have put a new sensor in now, but removed the ring temporarily to avoid any bits breaking the new sensor.

They haven't been able to track down anyone that can supply the ABS ring though - apparently my car is coming up as a German import originally rather than a UK car and there is a lot of confusion about what the actual part number is.

They have contacted BMW and they say that they can't confirm the part number as it might have been superseded (probably run-around)...

So only options they have are to order a new complete drive shaft from the dealers (over £400) just to get the bit off the end, or to find a 2nd hand one somewhere or someone who can supply an aftermarket suggestion that will work.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get this from an aftermarket supplier?

Also, anyone know if a 328 one would be the same part as the 330 one?

My car is a 2000 330i e46 manual.

ABS ring is on the outer of the drive shaft.

I have tried ECP, but didn't have any luck finding it - they have abs sensors, but don't seem to list anything under abs ring, even though if you search for driveshaft it seems to be listed with it although it doesn't seem to be included - unless I'm reading it wrong!

Ah, I didn't see the 2000 bit in the original post but to be honest, it shouldn't make a difference if there's a pair. I'd imagine the larger OD shaft would be an upgraded unit anyway.

The ABS ring is part of the wheel bearing/Hub assembly on the front of all BMs, the rear is different due to the bearing being pressed inside the arm....



Good thinking on the diff ratio, although I would have thought the main change would have been between auto and manual cars, not sure if you can get an auto 330i though??
