Hi All,
I need a couple of tyres for the back of my E60 535d. Originals are Contis, but they're coming in around £280 EACH! I've been told Falken have the 453 which is allegedly better than the 452, but Kumho have the Ecsta Le Sport which gets very good wet reports. They are £168 each, a huge difference. I daren't fit crap, but anyone got experience of these, or better? Thanks chaps.

Decent tyres cost decent money IMO.

You get what you pay for.

How big are your chariots rear shoes?  I was about that price for each one of my Dunlop SP Sports.

The rears are 275 35 ZR 19 96Y, to give them their full Sunday title. I can get Dunlops for about £230 a pop, but are they any good?

Are they runflats you are after at that price?  That's not a bad price for Dunlops at that size, mine are same but width/profile but on an 18" rim.

Never had any issues with the Dunlops on my car for over 50,000 miles.  Well no issues that haven't been caused by an overly heavy right foot and 333 bhpLOL  Plenty of grip in wet and snow.

No, I wouldn't have runflats again, despite their get you home advantages! I'll look closer at the Dunlops if you reckon they are ok. It's mainly wet performance I'm after..

I stick with OEM, if it was good enough for BMW then it's good enough for me.  BMW OEM for the E60 are my Dunlops, Goodyear Eagle, Bridgestone Potenza, Conti Sport Contacts and Cambells Pretty Michelins.

Tyres, along with brakes are a part of the car where you want to spend money, not save it.

I fitted snow tyres to a spare set of wheels I have for my Transit and fitted them just as the snow went but they are very grippy in the wet too. I fitted Uniroyal tyres and they're great.

I was able to stick to the rear bumper of a Scooby WRX the other day on some very wet twisty roads near here, clearly, on the straight, he was offski but on the bends, his rear view mirror was full of Ford badge. LOL

When I was looking for my M5, if I'd have found one with Falkens (for example) I'd have asked myself "What else has this guy scrimped on?" Dont get me wrong, Falkens are great tyres, I loved them on my 325. Not that I intend to but if I had a bump, I wouldn't want the insurance company to have any chance of wriggling out of a claim due to the quality of the tyres.

I know Andrew is kidding but for me, its a real consideration. I need a tyre that can handle 507BHP and transfer it to the road and keep me out of the ditch. I also show the car so want a tyre that takes a decent shine aswell. The Michelins get the power down as well as the Continentals but after seeing Vpriceys tyres shined up, they look ace. (I want me some of that Cool)

I dont intend to sell the car in the forseeable future but if I did have to, Quality tyres send a certain message to a potential buyer as to the maintenance of the vehicle.
