The New Yersey Chapter, BMWCCA has made a nice pdf file with pics how to repair the power steering return hose on all BMW E36, including the M3, by cutting the crimped hose off the metal pipe and replace it with a suitable hydraulic hose and hose clamps. You can open the file below, best is to print it out.

Note! this is the return line with less pressure, never do this with high pressure hydraulic lines, you normally can see that it is a high pressure line when both ends of the lines are crimped and tightened onto the system - like the power steering pump with a banjo bolt.
