Hi, I have a 1993 316i and im having some issues with my drivers door.

When I open the passenger door its got a staggered stop mechanism, which stops the door swinging back closed when youre getting out and that kind of thing.

The drivers door however does not have this.

Also, if the drivers door is opened only to abour 12 inches, then it wont close, it gets stuck and wont go past a certain point. If the door is pushed just past the 12 inch mark then you try to close it, it shuts fine.

Im guessing theres something wrong with the staggered stop mechanism, but ive not done much work on doors and this is my first BMW so if someone could point me in the right direction then id greatly appreciate it.

so does the door have the mechanism fitted? If so it could just need a good greasing up and lubricating to make it work as it should. As if the door doesn't shut on the last 12" then it must be there and getting stuck?
