Hi, Looking for a bit of advice. I'm trying to source a 00-01 2.0 Z3 in any dealerships in the country. Ideally a dealer as I wish to trade my 98 1.9 against it. There's one in Limerick for sale but with no FSH let alone FBMWSH. 58K miles with one Inspection in the book(inspection 1 or 2 not specified). Can anyone tell me if the M52 2.0 engine is more prone to trouble than others when it comes to servicing, or lack there of. I took for a test drive and despite some nice low end torque the car lacked acceleration from standstill and throttle seemed lazy. Should I just steer clear?

If you see any come into the dealerships I'd be much obliged if you could post a mention.

Cheers

Hi Brian

A quick look in Motornet.ie (which is a great site for finding stuff or pipe-dreaming!) only gave a 1-owner 00 2.0 in red with 28k (looks good in the photo:

16in Star Spoke Alloys, Electric Windows & Mirrors, Front Fogs, Central Locking, Immobiliser, Drivers Air Bag, ABS, ASC, Black Soft Top, Half Leather Black, M-Steering Wheel, Electric Drivers Seat, ABS & Traction Control

Contact details are:

Higgins Motorpark
Headford Road, Galway
Tel: 091 741 100
Email:
info@motorpark.ie

I haven't driven a 2.0 Z3 so I don't know what they're like, but it'd be worth having a spin off a few to see if that particular one was a mutt, or if the laziness is typical of them.

you're a couple of months too late....mate of mine had a '00 2.0, full leather with 10k miles on clock and let it go for €24k.  Full BMWSH and genuine mileage.  Sprog came along and had to get 2 extra seats.  Hardly ever drove the bugger. It had upgraded allows and in silver.  I can find out for you which garage he traded it in to if you like....it might be still there.

many thanks Toxic, cars like that tend to disappear pretty rapid from the forecourts. The one i'm looking at has 58K on board, and the material on the drivers seat replaced. All the signs of zero TLC.

should have got my arse in gear two months ago.

if there are signs of zero tlc then walk away - a better one will soon pop up.
