I got cut up by a Mercedes Chelsea Tractor today - I was not best pleased! But then, on the back instead of saying ML 270 it had an AMG badge. Why?? It is quite obviously not! (Missing the V12 engine for starters! Body kit, exhaust wheels etc) So my thinking is:
If someone doesn't know what an AMG is, then the letters will mean nothing to them.
But, if someone does know what an AMG is, then they will know it is a sheep in wolves clothing! So why bother badging it up as something that it quite obviously isn't?

Oh well, made me laugh as I sat in the queue for the Blackwall Tunnel - for an hour!

There is an ML AMG. A quite pointless car as who wants to drive that fast in a 2 ton car with a 2 metre centre of gravity. (Scary). I think the only give away is a large exhaust on each side and some big wheels.

Just looking for some opinions here as I can see this subject has hit on the M-tech badge discussion. I am the owner of an mint 325i Sport which wears the m-tech badge on the grill and the bootlid, does my car have the right to be wearing these badges or not? If not why not?

I presume your car has M-Technik styling & suspension so why not?
You are not claiming that it is an M3!

[on that note, I remember a salesman coming to my house once when I was washing the car or something and he was insisting that it was an M3 (and apparently he should know as he had driven loads!!!)- it was great fun shooting him down - needless to say I didn't buy whatever crap he waas flogging]

That was a quick reply! Yes the car is a genuine sport with the m-tech styling suspension etc. And I know what you mean about people who don't know what they're talking about. I'm fed up of asking people where they can see a 3 on my badge when they ask is it an M3!

Do you mean you dont know who Alpina are? assume that is your question. If so try looking at Sytner BMW, Never been called Emms before, there are worse things !

back in the good old days.. they would give you replacement M3 logos and emblems to freshen up your car.. the front one always got stone speckled quite quickly.. anyway.. I always collected a couple at every visit to the dealership and I accrued a goodly stock of them...
needless to say we have many an M3 badged bicycle or go-kart in the garage.. there is even one on the ride-on.

.. the grass seems to get cut much quicker now!

Speaking of badges we have a ferrari badge on the font of our trackter which is the spare for his toy. That badge in particular would cost about £100 now as is no longer available. But unfortunantly it does not help to make the grass or any other job get done any quicker in our case. Maybe we will have to invest in an M badge

Which tractor would that be then.. mine has had the whole front grille hanging off for years.. and a replacement from New Holland is not that far off your Ferrari badge...which would indeed make it go faster as it stops the hay seeds clogging the radiator and making it overheat.

We used to have an old fordson that was TVO (2 off), then Ford Major, Super Major, 4000, 5000 ( with Power Shift!) Massey Ferguson 135 ( the best were small Fergusons & big Fords) The first Forage Harvesters were leathal, catch a stone & it would go for @ 100 Yds, as for mowing, loads of legless phesants !

Sorry didn't mean to misslead, We want/need to get a bigger one as we have 2 hecters of woodland and fields which need chopping up now as we no longer have horses. It takes us about 4 hours to do it all with the Countax and we really need a gang mower. Would save lots of time, plus it could carry a bigger trailer for carrying chopped wood. The thing is a proper trackter is exspensive even second hand. We will buy one when the countax has finally died. Should have 3-4 more years left.
