As some of you may no i fitted a short shift kit to my six about 3 months ago. (I know it's strange, but i have a manual one). I have been reluctant to post any information on the conversion as initially i was not that impressed as it made the gearbox very stiff and thus notchy. However the linkage has now worn in having completed 3000 miles and the car is transformed. The action is fast, the movement is small and the gearbox feels far more positive. I now jump into other cars including BMW's and feel that the gearboxes are inprecise and awkward. In my opinion once this modification has been run in, it makes a great change to a six or M635. Word of advice though. The car's box needs to be treated with a bit of respect when it's cold and should not be rushed untill the box is up to operating temperatures. If you have ever driven a ferrari you will know what i mean. Easing of the car into gear intially and then after about 15 minuites the gearbox oil starts to get warm and then you have at your disposal one of the nicest gearbox changes in the world. Well the six box is not this good, but there is a lot more pleasure to be had from changing gear with a short shift fitted then with a standard linkage. overall a very worthwhile £200 spent.
