Mornin.

My wifes E36, J reg 320i SE + OBC.

Only the Front windows are electric, switches are on each side of the gearstick on the console.  Drivers side no longer illuminates....so I thought I'd swap it with the passenger side switch, so wifey can find it in the dark.

Nope.  Different connections.  Drivers side has a six pin (Tiny pins) connector, whilst passenger side has a 3 or 4 pin (Much larger pins) connector.  Is this "As expected"...or has prev. owner put a replacement that wasn't quite standard?  BTW, the drivers side button has no control over the passenger side...to explain the different set up of pins.  Why oh why oh why??

ps.  If anybody has a drivers side switch, lit by Orange LED, going spare or cheap, let me know.

Thanks.

Beno.  I've dismantled it, fiddled with the gubbins, checked all connections...to no avail.

Boybimmer3.  I don't fully understand your bit about the one touch o/s...

What he means is that the drivers side switch on that model has both the press and hold operation and a double-click or one press operation to drop the window completely with no requirements to hold the switch down after the first press and the passenger side doesnt have this option which may account for different connections I think.
