318i climat control fault

   I seem to have a problem on my 1998 318i se, it keeps flatting the battery.
It would seem the climate control consol has an internal fan, ( must draw
air across a electric component I think?) Problem is it is staying on 24/7,
I have disconnected the fan, but would I would like to know is there a
simple fix (other than adding a switch) and has anyone else have this same
problem?
