I've just had my e36 hard top stolen. Both rear windows smashed and the hard top stolen from the car in the road outside my house. I would advise anyone with a hard top to be very careful about leaving the car where thieves can get to it. Mine was montreal blue. If you're considering buying one then be warned. Most offered for sale are probably stolen. If you see one in Montreal Blue then please let me know.

Autoglass told me that they see at least one bmw per week with the same problem - once 3 in one day...

Many thanks

James

Sorry to hear that

I read about a similar problem with Mazda MX5s. Apparently there is now some kind of locking device for hard tops on the market retialing at about £60... may be worth trying to hunt one down.
