Hi, I posted a while ago to say that my speedo, trip and odometer and fuel economiy gauge had stopped working. Well as quickly as it all stopped it suddenly all started working again which is great news - BUT while the speedo is accurate the tripmeter and odometer are spinning at a high rate of knots. It dosn't matter how fast I'm going either - they spin at the same rate at 80mph as it does at 10mph. Hence a slow 1 mile round trip to the shops can rack up about 30 miles! I have noticed that my computer resets itself every time I turn the ignition off as it has the blinking lines each time I turn the ignition back on. I wonder if there is a computer reset switch or something. Can anyone help - or would anyone like to buy a very high mileage 635? |

OBC: This sounds like a fuse has gone.... have you checked your fuse box?
With regard to the instrumentation, not heard of this kind of phenomenon before, but check your sensors. They may have malfunctioned, causing the incorrect number of pulse signals to be sent. |

Hi Horsetan, I'll check the fuses tomorrow and the sensors from the rear drive where cleaned after I got the initial problem of the instruments not working. The bit about the computer resetting itself is false - I had not set the time correctly and now that I have the computer is stable. I'll let you know..... Best regards. |

You can also download a full instruction sheet on how to get access to the E24 instrument panel and dismantle / reassemble it, by clicking HERE
**Note that the instructions are for a left-hand-drive E24, but it is a simple matter to treat as a mirror image for right-hand-drive. If the trip / odo gears have stripped, then replacements can be ordered from this site: HERE Edited by Horsetan |
