you can remove the cl actuator for the fuel flap from inside the boot, no problem. Remove the trim, there are two 10mm headed bolts. The only trouble I had when I did this was the bolts; they are a kind of self-tapping M6 thread- mine self seized on the way out, causing much wailing, gnashing of teeth, etc, usual stuff I guess....

If you don't fancy that option, unplug the wiring loom, and run 12v to the actuator directly. You must do this for about 0.25 seconds only, and any longer may  burn out the actuator,  so just touching a wire strand on the connector will do it.

hope this helps

unplugging it when it is locked will not open it. can you remove the actual unit?

I unplugged the connection to the flap but to no avail..I hope I don't have to force it open as I don't want to damage it...put it has to be opened somehow cos I really would like to be able to put petrol in it occasionally...

check all your fuses.
I know with my E30 it is possible to access the central locking module for the fuel cap cover via the boot (remove the trim) but as I didn't buy myself a 635 CSI () a few weeks ago I can't go outsiude and see if this applies to your car!

Yes, the boot opens fine using the key, I unplugged the c/l from the flap but it made no difference, still refused to open.

The doors and boot all lock/unlock individually with the key

The petrol flap is part of the central locking, unfortunately. Are you able to open the boot manually, using the key?

Silly question but how does the flap over the petrol cap open?

I have dodgy central locking on the 635.  The doors and boot are not working and the petrol flap won't release at all...what do I do, please?
