I thought only emergency vehicles could show blue lights, so I'm not sure how people with blue light washer jets etc. get away with it ?

You are correct.

The washer LED folk don't all get away with it - if they're spotted by an officer of the law and he hasn't got anything more pressing to do they can expect a horty or worse...

I was told by a police officer that the blue LED's are not now viewed as illegal only strobing or altered to flash will contravene the law. Not 100% certain of this but there are so many out there with them,,,,,,

Sounds like drivel to me. Only emergency services vehicles can use blue lights.

.....And my local officer informed us that if a vehicle has been manufactured to be used off-road (scrambler, quadbike, F1 car) it doesn't need to have insurance when on the road!!! Some of them are a bit short of a fullen.

this was said when we complained about quads and scramblers riding on our street - in other words he couldn't be ****d doing anything about so said it was legal to do so.

But I'll go with the statement from ThamesValley police - seems right to me.

By the way are these demon lights, headlight type things or illuminated cosmetic parts like washer jets?

Inline with Killians link there was an article in the IAM mag about a plod who tried to "do" a chap for those washer jets.

He couldnt find anything in the books to report him for.

Blue lights actually mounted on the front of the car, on the grill etc are a slightly different ball game

Best Wishes

Nigel
