Yip, standard on the 525i is 192.

When manufacturers test the BHP the engine's are tighter than a you know what. If you are talking about my 525i which gave 196, it has done 73'000 so is just about run-in. I was always of the impression that any car which is totally standard (like mine), that gives the manufacturer's quoted BHP after it has done 50'000 is actually under-performing.

Therefore, a standard e34 525i should put out about 196 - like mine!!! Showing that Dastek's RR is spot on.

well, popped along today to watch the scottishcruise.com girls and boys, a couple of bmw owners there including M77 TEC 318iS black m3 lookalike, and his pal with the silver 328i (sorry lads, couldn't remember your names ) and a black m3 evo saloon H1 XLL, never got to speak to the owner though.

turned up just after 2pm after id been to kartstart, the p&j said it was from 2pm - 5pm, but when i got there there were only a couple of cars left to run, they'd been at it since 10:30!

costs?  £25 for RWD / £30 for 4WD for 4 runs with a printed sheet, dyno supplied and fitted by Dastek

Anyone fancy a group booking?

Stephen.. why not come down to our next RR day at Dastek..

Prices are subject to numbers.. but as we hope to have another RR day in the New Year at some point then I'll speak to Gerry to see what prices he can do 4 us. Last time we got £20 for 2 runs in an evening slot.. weekend slots are more expensive again. Gerry is an excellent guy and very helpful and happy to give advice, discuss the cars etc.. it's nice to hear it from the horses mouth as it were.

More than happy if you want to help organise m8...the Dastek dynos are first rate though the Dastek premises in Dalgety Bay would be hard to bear. BR,Jon

Cheers for the invite Jon, I would have come to the last one but the evening slot scuppered it for me travelling down after work, a weekend would be better personally speaking but im sure i could arrange something if it had to be an evening session again

I think after the turnout last time.. Gerry will give me a good rate for a weekend slot.. but we'll have to think of a date and then wait.. expect 3-4 month waiting time for a weekend slot so best we get in early...

Nice wee write up Wendy.. cheers. Saw the pics for Gaydon.. def gonna get M 8LUR down there for the Zed and Modified comps next year.

Did you see my controversial remaks, I made at the awards evening.. about Madonna.. ?? aye she deserves it the money grabbing charlotte..

Hi CK,

I did'nt get a unichip installed.

The gruppe N chip I got from chipeduk, a member of the E36coupe site for ~£40.

I think the unichip is about £5-600 all in, which is too much for me to spend on my current engine.

When I finally decide on an engine for the car, I'll get the unichip done then.

... until then £40 for an off the shelf chip will do me nicely

Craig.

Jon It could have been more in depth, but we were late getting the article in as it was, so I had to write a quick one striaght away. Hopefully the next one wont be near to the mag deadline and I will be able to do it and Dastek a wee bit more justice.

Hi Jon,

Are you confusing GruppeN with GruppeM ?

I'm running an unshielded K&N type cone filter.

I had a good look at tiggers gruppeM induction kit whilst at dastek, and they look really pretty, and as tiggers dyno plot shows, they obviously reap good gains. It's just a pity even the replicas are £200 +

I did buy few sheets of stainless steel last week, if I ever find the time, I'm going to have a go at shielding my current intake.

I've no idea what setup the map on the gruppeN chip was written for .... TBH, apart from who I purchased it from, I've no idea of the origins of this chip.

Would be intresting to get the car on RR again, with the stock chip.

Craig.

Yup .. you really want to shield the cone filter or you will be likely losing power through heat soak.
